An Evolving Stud Farm

From the dehesa, deep in the Serranía de Ronda in southern Spain, to the competition arena; at La Donaira Lusitanos, we build our sport horse team based on each horse’s genetics, development and temperament, with special attention to the descendants of champions in the discipline. Our methodology combines scientific insight with classical training principles, always prioritising connection. Each horse progresses at its own pace, from a foundation of trust and security, under the guidance of María Culsan and Bernat Barrachina.

We believe that welfare is the true starting point of high performance. That is why our breeding program brings together some of the most respected Lusitano bloodlines; Casa Cadaval, Guilherme Borba, Sociedade das Silveiras and Bessa Solar Pinhas, combined with an approach grounded in time, respect and a deep understanding of each horse. Breeding decisions prioritise conformation, elasticity of movement, character and long-term health.

Under their guidance, some of our horses progress toward classical dressage and elite sport, always with a long-term vision. We work between the estate and specialised facilities on the Costa del Sol, combining advanced infrastructure with the continuity of a team that has known each horse since its earliest years. For us, success is not measured by a medal or a score alone; it is also found in the health, confidence, longevity and willingness of each horse, and in the relationship it builds with those who accompany it.
